Die Stiftung bezweckt die Förderung der editorischen Aufarbeitung des Werkes und des literarischen Nachlasses des Schriftstellers Elias Canetti; sie fördert die Auseinandersetzung mit seinem Werk wie auch die archivarische Sicherung desselben und achtet und wahrt bei all ihrem Handeln in möglichst umfangreicher Weise die Urheberrechte; die Stiftung bezweckt ferner dazu beizutragen, dass die Erinnerung an die Lebensgeschichte von Elias Canetti als Exilschriftsteller wachgehalten und sein Denken stets neu in den gesellschaftlichen Diskurs getragen werden; die Stiftung kann weiter die Aufarbeitung des schriftstellerischen Werks und Lebens von Veza Canetti fördern und die archivarische Sicherung unterstützen. Die Stiftung kann in Erfüllung ihres Stiftungszwecks in der gesamten Schweiz wie auch im Ausland tätig sein. Die Stiftung wird errichtet und geführt im Andenken an den Vater der Stifterin, Elias Canetti, Schriftsteller und Träger des Literaturnobelpreises, geb. 25. Juli 1905 in Rustschuk, gestorben 14. August 1994 in Zürich, sowie an Veza Canetti, Schriftstellerin, geb. 21. November 1897 in Wien, gestorben 1. Mai 1963 in London.
