Formation: Dans le cadre de ses activités, l'Idiap contribue à développer la formation supérieure. A cet effet, l'Idiap entretient des liens étroits avec les centres de recherches et les hautes écoles de Suisse et de l'étranger. Transfert de technologies: L'Idiap développe des collaborations avec les milieux économiques, notamment sous forme de mandats, d'accords de partenariats, de transfert de la propriété intellectuelle favorisant l'exploitation des résultats de ses recherches, ainsi que la création de start-up et spin-off. L'Idiap favorise la participation de ses chercheurs à des programmes nationaux et internationaux de recherche, de formation, et de transfert de technologies. La fondation ne poursuit aucun but lucratif.
